The Power of the Babe (Labrynth) by David Bowie - Chords

Couldn't find this one anywhere on the internet :D This is the version in the film not the song version.

G--D (X6)

F----------------------------------------Dm
I saw my baby, crying hard as babe could cry
What could I do
-----------F-----------
My baby's love had gone
------------------Dm
And left my baby blue
Nobody knew

C-------------F-----C-------F
What kind of magic spell to use
C------------F
Slime and snails
-----C-----------F
Or puppy dogs' tails
C--------------F
Thunder or lightning

Then baby said
A----------------------------------D
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
-----------------------------------
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
F#--------------E-----------D
Put that baby spell on me
A-------------------------------D
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)

Put that magic jump on me
D----------------------------
Slap that baby, make him free

Sluggish Windows Media Player in Windows Vista with Sigmatel Sound Card

If you are experiencing Windows Media Player loading times slower than your last computer in Windows Vista, you may have a Sigmatel sound card; here's how to fix it.
1. Right click on your sound icon in the corner, and click on playback devices.
2. Underneath the Speakers/Headphones item, it should say "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" if it doesn't then you have a different sound card, this tip may not work for you.
3. Double click on Speakers/Headphones.
4. Place a tick in "Disable All Enhancements" even if none of the enhancements below have a tick next to them. If they do, untick them.
5. OK your way out, Windows Media Player should be much faster with no stuttering.

NOTE: If you have surround sound music may not play out of all your speakers at once with enhancements disabled.

GrabBee X+ trouble - how to get it working with XP SP2 (and maybe SP3)

If you are having problems with your grabbee appearing as a 2801 device or something similiar, this is what worked for me..

First, unplug your grabbee and uninstall all software related to it (jukebox, usb audio/video driver, etc)
Click here to go to the VideoHome website with the latest driver, download it (this will take some time as they seem to have slow servers) Install this driver and reboot. Now plug your Grabbee back in. This is strange but it worked for me: go to Device Manager (start, run, type "devmgmt.msc" and hit enter) under Sound, video and game controllers find 2801 USB device (or something similiar) and right click on it. Choose properties and click on the Driver tab. Next click on update driver, then choose advanced on the wizard. Next click "I will choose the driver to install" at this point you may have a choice of a USB 2801 device or a GrabbeeX+, choose GrabbeeX+ then click "have disk". Browse to where you downloaded the updated drivers and drill down to "Manual driver" then "32 bit" (or 64 if you're on 64 bit windows I would guess!) and click OK. Click next and the new driver should now install. When this is finished close device manager and insert the CD that came with you grabbee and browse to the "AP Software" folder and run Setup.exe, to install the video jukebox program. There is an updated version of this on the videohome website but it did not work at all for me. Once that is installed run the jukebox software and it should now be working!

Nokia Wireless Presenter

I've recently been using the Nokia Wireless Presenter to control Windows Media Player via bluetooth, and I have to say it's great! I can play, pause, stop, skip tracks, randomise, repeat and adjust the volume of songs or films playing without getting up! The PC component is not very easy to find at all on the Nokia site, so here's a link you will also need a compatible Nokia phone with bluetooth and the presenter software, which I believe is possible to install if you don't have it already. You will also need bluetooth on your PC, either a USB stick or internal. The presenter connects through a COM port which you can configure inside your bluetooth software (I use Bluesoleil).

Siúil a Rún (Irish Love Song) - Clannad Guitar Chords

Intro --Am----G-Am---F---G--Am---C---Am---G--Am
--F----G---F--Am--F--G--Am
----------Am---------Em---------F

Am----G-Am---F---G--Am
I wish I was on yonder hill
------C--Am-G-Am--F----G
'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill,
-------F---Am---------F--G-Am
And every tear would turn a mill,
---------Am--------Em-----Am
Iss guh day thoo avorneen slawn.

Chorus (in phonetic Gaelic)
Am----G-Am---F---G--Am
Shule, shule, shule aroon,
------C--Am-G-Am--F------G
Shule go succir agus, shule go kewn,
-------F---Am---------F--G-Am
Shule go dheen durrus oggus aylig lume,
---------Am------Em-------F
Iss guh day thoo avorneen slawn.

I'll sell my rock, I'll sell my reel,
I'll sell my only spinning wheel,
To buy my love a sword of steel
Iss guh day thoo avorneen slawn.

Chorus

I'll dye my petticoats, I'll dye them red,
And 'round the world I'll beg my bread,
Until my parents shall wish me dead,
Iss guh day thoo avorneen slawn.

Chorus

I wish, I wish, I wish in vain,
I wish I had my heart again,
And vainly think I'd not complain,
Iss guh day thoo avorneen slawn.

Chorus

But now my love has gone to France,
To try his fortune to advance;
If he e'er come back, 'tis but a chance,
Iss guh day thoo avorneen slawn.

Chorus

Another one I couldn't find on the internet - so here it is!
There are no words so I'll try and estimate the timing as best I can.

Make your desktop background follow you!

This is building on the previous post about redirecting your files to a network share. I have implemented this on my network with 2 computers.
1. Grab a copy of the excellent Flexrefresh (go here). This program refreshes the wallpaper amongst other things - I haven't found a better way to refresh the wallpaper - if you do please leave a comment!

2. Place it in a convenient folder on all client computers.

3. We're going to create a batch file so open up notepad. We are going to have the image copied to the local computer from the server (computer with user's files on). In notepad, enter:
xcopy /y "\\server-name-here\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\wallpaper1.bmp" "%userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft\wallpaper1.bmp"
You will have to change the server-name-here to the network name of your server computer. (see previous post if you have no idea what I'm on about!)

4. Make sure flexrefresh.exe is in the same folder as the batch file you are creating and enter this in the batch file underneath the previous text:
start flexrefresh.exe
This will run flexrefresh.exe straight after copying the wallpaper image from the server.

5. Save this batch file in the same place as you saved flexrefresh.exe (remember to save it with a .bat extension) and place a shortcut to it in the startup folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username\start menu\startup) of each networked user on each client computer.

This will synchronise the users' wallpaper but if it is changed on any other computer than the server, the change will be lost next time the user logs in - to fix this, after changing the wallpaper the user will need to run a batch file - open up notepad again and enter this:
xcopy /y "%userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft\wallpaper1.bmp" "\\server-name-here\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\wallpaper1.bmp"
Again, replace server-name-here with the network name of your server computer. Save this as a .bat file (e.g. Update Wallpaper Image.bat) and place it in a convenient location so it can be run each time the wallpaper is changed.

This is by no means perfect but I have found this works on my setup - leave a comment with your experiences or suggestions!
